Is Rehab Available for Seniors?

Often, treatment programs focus on treating young adults and even teens but neglect the challenges that seniors face. With substance use among seniors on the rise, it’s more important than ever for seniors to get the treatment they need and deserve. While this is the case, there are some barriers that get in the way of seniors getting treatment for their addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.

Below are some of those barriers, and how Front Door Health can provide seniors with the support they need to get and stay sober.

Stigma

While receiving treatment is less stigmatized than it has ever been, many seniors grew up with the belief that mental health services were something to be looked down upon. The more we learn about the field of mental health, though, the more it becomes apparent that those in need can benefit greatly from professional support—and there is no reason to feel ashamed about seeking help.

You don’t need to “grin and bear it.” It’s okay to ask for help and get the support you need!

Accessibility and the “Treatment as Usual” Approach

A major issue that seniors run into with the “treatment as usual” approach is accessibility. It can be difficult for some seniors to leave their homes multiple times throughout the week for hours at a time to receive treatment. Many seniors also either can’t or don’t want to move into a residential treatment center. This leads seniors to avoid receiving the help they need.

In-Home Treatment

An option that many seniors aren’t aware of is in-home treatment, like that provided by Front Door Health. With in-home substance use treatment, the patient receives treatment services from the comfort of their own home. Highly-trained drug addiction specialists are sent to the homes of patients to provide the highest level of care—which means no travel, no group sessions, and no moving into a residential facility.

Reach Out for In-Home Support

As a senior, you deserve the highest level of care in a safe and accessible environment. Front Door Health offers in-home services for seniors—allowing seniors to get top-tier care without having to travel back and forth to a treatment center or live in a residential treatment facility.

Front Door Health provides luxury, judgment-free in-home treatment for patients when they need it. We take an evidence-based approach to treatment, and we create custom treatment plans for our patients to increase their chances of success. Our treatment process is client-focused and individualized. This means no group sessions with strangers and no “treatment as usual” approach. You are unique and the treatment plan we create for you is designed to meet you where you are along your journey and help you to reach your recovery goals.

We understand that it can be difficult to put your life on hold and take time off work. Our in-home treatment allows you to continue to meet your work, school, family, and other obligations while receiving the treatment you deserve.
